Tacoma - February 14, 2018

We missed our meeting at the beginning of February because of bad weather, so we met on Valentine's Day instead. There was plenty of business to discuss, alongside of our regular agenda items, including Mini Raffle, collection for our backpack programs, and Block of the Month.

At our second meeting in January we worked as a group making foley bags, and more were made and brought in to Wednesday's meeting. Last count was 129--that's excellent. Brenda now has the names of two facilities that are interested in having these, so it will be an ongoing project along with the NICU quilts. More items were also donated for the warming center in Augusta. Quilters are a generous bunch.

We ARE having a quilt show in October, the 13th and 14th, at the Carrie Ricker school in Litchfield. Our raffle quilt is now finished, and tickets will be printed shortly. The raffle quilt is from one of Bonnie Hunter's patterns (used with permission), "Scrap Crystals", and is approximately 75" x 90". It was donated by one of our members, Koleen Painchaud, who passed away last summer.

We also discussed moving to another location because of the ongoing plumbing issue, but a show of hands indicated most of the members present at Wednesday's meeting prefer to remain at the Lodge.

After the business meeting, Barbara demonstrated several ways to make Cathedral Windows. Great demonstration!

Our next meeting will be a Stack and Whack workshop, taught by Barbara Acord.

We also had lots of show and tell at the Feb 14 meeting. First up was the finished raffle quilt for Tacoma's quilt show in October. It was pieced by Koleen Painchaud and quilted by AnnW.
