Tacoma Lakes Quilters Christmas Party 12.18.19

Today was a great day as we met for our Annual Christmas Party. About 35 gals came and Maine weather did not fail us..it was spitting snow but the sun was trying to break through later.
The organizers had some unique ideas. Hors d'oeuvres(appetizers) to be judged in 3 categories: 1. Presentation 2. Creativity  3. Taste.
It was very difficult to choose. A cookie swap - 12 gals went home delighted with the choices.
A game that proved very popular played with 4 quarters 'Left and Right'...3 winners won the jackpot.
We had door prizes ... also a craft - a snowman made with marshmallows. plus a lot of little stuff in a plate. You have those who can do this with skill and then others who were still figuring out the parts. And of course an array wonderful food . We also swapped gifts ...there was a lot of laughter and we all agreed it was highly successful day.
Following are just candid snapshots to give a flavor of our day....gals take this with a grain of salt. We were not posing we were just visiting and have a great time.

Tacoma Lakes Quilters - 12.4.19

Tacoma Lakes Quilters held their business meeting and had another good day. Aside from our normally scheduled activities, we also discussed the future of our food bank donations, the raffle quilt for next year's quilt show, Barbara's plans for the Bucket List Challenge, programs for next year; and most importantly, our Christmas Party, which is in a couple of weeks! There will be plenty of food, activities, and fun for all.

We also watched two Demos--Barb showed us how to do curved piecing; and DonnaM and Anne demonstrated lots of possibilities for stamping on fabric. Great demos! Following the meeting, several of us stayed and worked on individual projects.

And as always, Show 'n Tell was wonderful. We have lots of talented ladies in our group!

Beth's Jingle Quilt, inspired by a quilt at erinrussek.typepad.com
Ramona's blue and white hexagon quilt using the same fabrics as her granddaughter's pajamas.
The flannel nightgown Ramona made for her sister.
Ramona's yellow and pink pinwheel quilt. She used fleece on the back. This was one of the quilts on her UFO Challenge list.

Ramona's pig panel quilt, another one on her UFO Challenge list.
Carol's blue whale quilt. The reverse side of her quilt also has a seascape on it. This was one of the project's on Carol's UFO Challenge list.

Anne made more than a dozen "prayer flags", which she'll hang up around her home over the holidays.
Kathy's colorful zig zag quilt using her favorite 2" x 4" bricks.
Elly's wool pressing mat, 30" x 30", which she purchased for a ridiculously low price.

Betty's Casserole Carrier from our Make and Take workshop last month.
Betty did not have the metal rings called for in the pattern for the carrier, so she made fabric loops instead, which seem to work equally well.
Betty also made a rectangular casserole carrier.
Sue's "Woodlands" quilt, made using the pattern called BQ2 from Maple Island Quilts. This one is on Sue's UFO Challenge list.
