TACOMA MEETING - April 15

Tacoma gal's came with their sewing machine and beautiful fabrics for a workshop with Sandy K to make a 'Sebago Bag'. We had a short business meeting and our 'Show and Tell'. A wonderful time as always with lots of sharing, goodies and laughter!

I will preface this by saying that Sherry won the BOM 30's drawing last meeting. Following is the poem she wrote and finished top.

THIRTY ONE BLOCKS by Sherry F.
April 7, 2015
Twenty-five blocks plus the six she had made were up on the wall, being displayed.
She stood back to take a good long look and with a crook of her head, her finger she shook which ones would she move, were they all there to stay..would they be fine for a moment - would she change anyway?
She had won all these blocks in the Block of the Month that her fellow quilters had all made on a hunch that 1930's were the choice for the day, hadn't they called her the Queen of the '30's anyways?
She was so giddy that her name had been drawn to the happiest of fellow quilters to the very forlorn- she danced and she laughed to her own dear delight, little did they know they'd be displayed that night.
With leftover pieces from quilts in the past she had known that these 1930 pieces would never last. A triangle here and a rectangle there, she sewed it together without pulling her hair.
Adding a border would complete this top and here my friends is where I'll stop - I thank you all for your participation and know that you have my utmost admiration when I sit and this quilt I see. I'll remember all of you - and hope that you all remember me!
This is her stunning quilt!

TACOMA MEETING - April 1

A gorgeous Maine Spring day for our monthly business meeting. The excitement today were the blocks that we make each month and a name drawn. One gal who is the queen of '30's made 6 blocks. Her name was entered 6 times and, lo and behold she WON!!! And then if that was not enough we have a mini raffle and she won again. Lots of laughter....fun!! fun!!

Aren't quilting gatherings suppose to be full of joy. Another project chaired by Suanne are the 'Fidget Quilts' they are not attractive but very versatile for hands of Alzheimer patients. The imagination of the gals were amazing....buttons ...zippers....different textures...stuffed animals that fit into a pocket...and on and on...they are lap size and made very colorful. We will be sharing the concept with the upcoming Area 4 meeting May 5 that will be held at Litchfield Sportsman's Club hosted by 5 chapters. Cyndi Black owner of 'The Busy Thimble' will be our speaker.

Our 'Show 'n Tell is always exciting. Enjoy!

FIDGET QUILTS
These were shown individually and my intention was to get a picture of each after meeting. Well I dropped the ball and you can see that you are not able to see all the detail. These are the gals that finished theirs and there will be more.
The ideas were outstanding.
