Tacoma Meeting - April 2

We had some decent weather for a change for this past Wednesday's Tacoma Lakes Quilters business meeting. It was a quick meeting followed by a workshop. We discussed plans for an upcoming quilt show, firmed up arrangements for our bus trip to Keepsake Quilting later this month, created a Nominating Committee for the June election, drew names for the Fat Quarter Club, drew a winner for the Mini Raffle, and had Bring and Brag. There were quite a few quilts that were finished after the charity workshop we held last meeting.

Wednesday's workshop was a how-to for a mini-iron travel tote, conducted by our esteemed president, Barbara. This clever little tote doubles as a carry for a hot iron and an ironing pad, all in one. The inside of the tote is lined with silicone ironing board fabric.

Barb brought a series of buttons that workshop particpants could choose from, and she also demonstrated how to cover a button with fabric of your own choosing.

The Travel Iron Tote is available in two sizes from Sisters' Common Thread.

Sherry's "Vintage Tin" from Crabapple Hill. Sherry is a pro at stem stitch embroidery, and this was lovely, done in black thread.

Janet is our resident expert on the bargello technique and has done quite a few. She is currently exhibiting her beautiful quilts at Savory Maine's dining room on Water St. in Damariscotta through May 6. Her show is not to be missed.

Carol T has also been busy creating quilts for this year's charity project. Kudos to all the gals who are contributing quilts. We hope they'll be well used and well loved.

 

This album block quilt, also by CarolT, is destined to be a graduation gift.

We did a workshop last year for a Turning 20 quilt, and Barb has finished her top. Love it in the 1930s reproduction fabrics.

We missed Margo this meeting, who normally takes pictures and writes the posts for our blog. Margo had a mishap at home and may be out of commission for a little while. We wish her a  speedy recovery. Hope to see you back in action soon, Margo!
