March 27 Meeting

Tacoma Lakes Quilter was cancelled because of inclement weather last week. We held the scheduled workshop this Wednesday which is normally our Sharing Threads day (an open sew day for our members to bring projects to work on with no agenda)
Those who planned to take the class last week came with their
material...pattern....sewing machines etc. to learn how to make a 'Stained Glass Wallhanging.'

Barb, teaching the class and a few of those participating.
  Sue D and Sharon F.

 Pauline

This is a finished Stained glass wallhanging - done by Donna

It was a fun day for all who took part in the workshop and the many who brought

their own projects to work on. There were 24 ladies and lots of sharing and laughs and
much accomplished. Until next week....

March 6, 2013 Meeting

We come from the North...the South...the East and West to join together for a wonderful morning of 'The Tacoma Lakes Quilters'. Hot coffee and goodies await us as we come down the stairs with many smiles and hello's as we catch up on the news with one another. We have the drawing for our raffle and this time our treasurer, Sandy C. won...a beautiful bouquet of flowers, a homemade pie plus other goodies...she was delighted. Our fat quarter club drawings are always popular. Some of the gals received a little bag of goodies from their secret sister. A business meeting followed and then our favorite part is 'Show 'n Tell'. We get to see all the wonderful talent we have in our group. Here we go....

Sue B. made this wonderful X-string block pattern offered online with Bonnie Hunter. Click on her name and it will take you to FREE PATTERNS.
Sue B. Ohio string block pattern from 2000 American Patchwork & Quilting magazine.

Donna W. made this great 9-patch disappearing patch quilt.
Judy L charming baby quilt with a panel from Whipper Snappers in Hallowell.
Jona H. The pattern is from a tree skirt pattern that our group did as a workshop a couple of weeks ago. She made her's to be a table topper.

Suanne visited Hawaii and brought back material and made a couple colorful backpacks.
Suanne's friend Judi B made this quit from what she calls 'Christmas fabrics'  and gifted it to her. It was very nice.

In Suanne's travels she purchased this purse from a man who made a unique handle that
extends to any length using a cord stop.
Janet C this is her Christmas Tree Skirt using a little different technique.

This is Sue Kelly who made this lovely table runner using the 9" wedge ruler.
This is stunning and she said it was very easy to do.

We had a mini demonstration 'applying quick bias' with Barb
This will be an all-day workshop making a stained glass wall-hanging March 20.
This is just a sample of the project we will be doing using quick-bias
taught by Barb.
