Calling All Knitters

Knitters, you are invited to participate in a project called Click for Babies, sponsored by the National Center on Shaken Baby Syndrome. The project is meant to raise awareness about this very important issue. The organization needs your help to knit PURPLE newborn baby caps that can be given to babies during the month of November.

Create as many as you like, from 5 to 50, using any newborn baby cap pattern, and any shade of soft, baby-friendly PURPLE yarn.

Your knitted caps will be given to babies to help educate parents and other caregivers about the Period of PURPLE Crying, a normal and sometimes frustrating period of increased crying all infants experience in the first few weeks and months after birth.

Please knit and mail your PURPLE newborn baby caps, to be received no later than October 26, 2011 to:

July 20 - Summer Picnic

Twenty of us joined together for our summer picnic for Tacoma Quilters of Litchfield at Koleens, owner of the Quilters' Oasis, A Quilter's Workshop & Retreat Center in Wales. It seems my camera had a problem and many of the pics I took did not take. We shared various dishes and we did not lack for food. These ladies are great quilters and also great cooks.

Several took advantage of the pool and hot tub. I told the gals I would be very careful what I posted. Smile!! Here are four of the gals enjoying the coolness on a very hot day.

This is a Indonesian bali fabric bought for Andrea by one of our quilters in her travels this year.

Our group made 34 pillow cases for ConKerr cancer. It was amazing all the fabrics used.

This was very touching to our group. We have two who are battling cancer ...
Sherry and Koleen. Sue B and Pam who are in charge of ConKerr cancer made pillow cases for them.

This is being done by Koleen 'Sampler Magic' It is stunning.

There were other Show 'n Tells but the pics did not come out. So this is it for this time. We will not be meeting until September 7 to begin our Fall meetings. Enjoy the rest of your summer. We will be posting what is happening on the sidebar from time to time...so check it out...Come and join us if you would like to meet during the day. We are a great group and have a lot of fun. There were lots of laughs today and a relaxing time.

June 15 Meeting

Today was our last regular meeting for Tacoma Quilters of Litchfield until September. It was an exciting time as we shared all the ideas for the coming year. It has been a wonderful year as we have been led by our President, Barb; Vice-President Sherry; Secretary, Pauline; Treasurer, Rayna.

Below are quilts made by Chris, who is not part of our group but a friend to many of us. She finished these stack 'n whack blocks that were given to her. She finished and donated them to charity. We all agreed they were so beautiful. Great job Chris as always!! The person who receives them will feel very special.

This is how we finish off the morning after our meeting twice a month...those who want to have lunch at the local 197 diner. This is just part of the group for today. A great way to get to know one another...lots of conversation and laughs!!

The next thing on our agenda is a summer picnic and we start up our chapter meetings in September. Of course we have the Maine Quilts 34th Annual Show July 29 - 31. Our raffle quilt shown in the header above will be on display. Raffle tickets are available now until Sept. 7th when we will draw the winning ticket at our first Fall meeting.

Road Trip Spring 2011

This was Mic D's for lunch on Tacoma's recent road trip. They had made a menu with our chapter's name welcoming us with special lunches. It was a wonderful day as we visited 3 different shops for the day. Knights's in Cape Neddick, Barking Rose Quilt Barn in Cornish and Kathie's in Sanford. We ended the day at Cole's Farm Restaurant in Windham. Sorry for the late posting as I just got the pictures. They came out wonderful so decided to post.

June 1, 2011 Show 'n Tell

Tacoma Quilters had their great reveal of 'Secret sisters'. It was amazing and lots of fun finding out who sent us a card or gave a gift throughout the 9 months secretly. Below is Yona in pink with her SS Kat. She shared that she always gives a sweater at the reveal and this is her 14th SS and her 14th sweater over the years. Of course, Kat wore it beautifully...we all loved it! Yona knits the European way and is so fast and always creating something when she comes to the meetings. Show 'n Tell is always popular. Tacoma Quilter had their REVEAL day for the Mystery wall hanging and Mix and Match today. Twelve ladies did the Mystery Quilt designed in EQ7 by Barb and named 'O Tacoma' . Each one is stunning in their own right. They will be hung at the Maine Quilt Show July 29-31 at the Augusta Civic Center.

Following are the 'Mix and Match' hangings. What a creative group of gals. Nineteen participated. There were five categories and each one persons was different. Theme...Block...Fabric...Color...Embellishment. These will also be hung at the Maine Quilt Show.
