Tacoma Workshop - May 21

We had a brief meeting ahead of the workshop last week, consisting of the Mini Raffle and Show and Tell. Betty brought two more quilts for this year's charity project.

Sally brought a bag with lots of pockets stitched into it, using a  pattern by Ursula & Emily.
Ann also brought a cute quilt to donate.
Bea showed her quilt for this year's challenge. Can you guess which song her quilt depicts? Answer at the end of the post.
Sandi brought her fall-themed hexagon table mat. Love the stem stitching in the middle.
Sue taught the workshop to make Mark Lipinski's Curvy quilt, a quilt with a single pattern piece. Participants were asked to bring a prepared set of strips, and Sue showed us how to cut the pieces out of the strips and construct a block.
Blocks were then sewn into rows to complete a quilt top.
Answer for the song depicted in Bea's quilt: "On the Wings of a Snow White Dove"

Tacoma Meeting - May 7

Wednesday's meeting was a busy one, and much was accomplished. First up on the agenda was a brief discussion about our challenge quilts and the submission guidelines for MaineQuilts. Next, names were drawn for Fat Quarter Club, a winner was drawn for the Mini Raffle, and the Birthday Club gals showed their gifts. The Nominating Committee also made a presentation for the upcoming elections in June.

We got a sneek peek at the raffle quilt for our upcoming quilt show on October 25 and 26. The raffle quilt, called "New Friends", was designed by Koleen, and made by Sherry. Sherry has generously agreed to donate her quilt to be our raffle quilt.

We discussed the purchase of aprons to be used for events such as our quilt show or auction. The aprons will be available for $4.99 and will have an embroidered logo.

We also voted to have our Summer Picnic at Koleen's this year.

Show and Tell

 Margo's quilt, "Angels Unaware"
Koleen's "Blue Ridge Beauties", designed by Bonnie Hunter
SandiJ's May table runner
Kat designed her own scrappy quilt for her grandson.
SharonF's modified Disappearing Nine Patch made for her 93-year old mother
Betty made an Irish Chain quilt and matching pillowcases.
Betty also made two cheerful kids' quilts to donate.
Janice made two Screenplay totes. Love the one with the cupcakes!
Two more charity quilts made by Janice

Helen made her Penny Sturges tote with Superior's batting alternative. The pattern is called "Pocket Parade".
Helen's placemats and napkins set is called "Framed Seasons" by QP Quilts & Co.
Another Screenplay tote made by AnneT. The Screenplay tote patterns are from Nancy Ota Designs. They're easy to make and have been quite popular in our group. The variations are endless.
