Area 4

Area 4 was held last night in Winslow with about 10+ ladies of Tacoma Quilters showing  support for our President Barb D who was the main speaker. Great turnout ...wonderful array of delicacies to satisfy the sweet tooth and beautiful 'show 'n tell'.  Our own Sandy G, whose birthday came closest to the date won a door prize. Of course she was delighted and we were glad for her also. Congratulations!!!

Barb our 'Gadget Queen' showed her first quilt...she says, probably a little polyester....painted on ABC's and tied!. She said they have tried to kill it but it will not be destroyed. Some of you probably have 'one of a kind' also. She spoke about the tools she enjoys and those that did not work out so well.
Her last demo making 2 1/2" binding for a big quilt in about 4 min's. received a lot of interest. Very Impressive for us who have stood over a hot iron to fold and press. Shown helping is Beth Maitland, Pres of PTQG.
A fun, light-hearted and very enjoyable evening spent with friends.

Tacoma Meeting/Workshop 4.18.12

Tacoma's meeting today was a small business meeting, show 'n tell and an all day workshop. Pictures will be posted next month of those who made the PHOTO ALBUM.

Pictured are finished confetti pictures we learned to do last meeting.
Margo...Sue R....Barb...Kat
We all had the same tree pattern and could do whatever we wanted. It is amazing how different and unique each one turned out. The leaves are little tiny pieces of fabric and after they are placed you cover with black tulle and machine quilt. Someone suggested we do them for Spring, Summer, and Winter.

Each month we have a raffle. This month Judy R. donated jars of goodies in this beautiful basket with fabric. The happy winner was Bea.
Peggy with this beautiful 'Choose your challenge' quilt made in batik's to be hung at the Maine Quilts 35th annual show to be held at Augusta Civic Center July 27-29.
'Choose your Challenge' quilt made by Jona, also to join with about 15 others at the Me. Quilt show in July.
 Jona and her handwork
Janice made this beautiful quilt with the 'strip for a day' collection we each received earlier this year.
This is our newest quilter, Sandy G. of approx. 5 weeks and she is amazing how fast she is learning. It fun to watch all the things she has made and all her ideas.  This is a beautiful red and white pattern.
A baby quilt also by Sandy G
 The backing she is using.
Another 'Choose your challenge' by Donna using Moda fabrics.
Carol T with a paper-pieced scene. Very nice.
Carol with finished 60 degree runners we made in March. They do not really show how pretty they are with this picture but were very colorful.
Debbie with this stunning quilt made approx. 1930's. Made by her Great Grandmother!! It is all hand quilted.
Close-up of the intricate work. Stunning!!
Debbie with a picture that she made in school. A teacher was retiring and sent it to her. 1975-76
This week was school vacation so our chapter had 3 young visitors one of which is an aspiring quilter in her own right. Isabelle who made a couple of 9-patch squares by hand and also a pot holder. Deb above is the proud mom.

This is called 'Nature's Rhythms' a cloth works pattern done by Margo.
 April's Block of the Month by Country Junk'tion 8 x 22"
needle turn applique. Series of 12.
Again it is amazing to me the work that our group puts out each month. It always makes for an exciting 'show 'n tell'. Until next time....enjoy

Tacoma 4.4.12 Mtg. & Workshop

Tacoma Quilters had an all-day meeting. We started with a business meeting  followed by a workshop. We had  a raffle that was a beautiful basket loaded with all kinds of goodies donated by a couple of the gals and the lucky winner was Bev D. Alvine Creamer, taught  us 'how to' do the confetti technique. There were 12 of us who prepared a scenery...cut all these little tiny pieces of fabric...put leaves on our trees.... then covered it with netting and machine quilted. We all agreed it was fun and we would do more of it.
