Workshop -- Aprons Feb 22

Today was an all-day workshop for Tacoma Quilters to make aprons. Of course we always have goodies and they were in abundance. It was a great day of challenge learning some new techniques.Barb had made one with rick-rack and working on another with piping. She also brought her serger and demonstrated its use. There were several patterns to choose from. Some gals came and just visited...others cut aprons out to finish at home.Just a great day of fun and laughter and we even accomplished something. Amazing!!! I forgot to take pictures until later and missed some people. But this is a little flavor to enjoy.

February 8 Strip for a Day

The Tacoma quilters arrived to experience 'STRIPPERS FOR A DAY'
Each has chosen a fabric and brought 27 -  2 1/2" WOF strips.
We circled the table and picked up one each.
Pictures before we picked them up.

These are the fabrics we ended up with.
These are the gals with strips around our necks, over their arms or in their hands. We had a lot of laughs and were excited about creating something.
This is a quilt by Helen from a free pattern from  Fabric Gardens, Madison. It is done in 2 1/2" strips. Many of us thought it would be a great pattern for our strips.
Our raffle drawing for the month was this cute apron and holders modeled by Bea and made by Barb D.  SUE B was the happy winner plus a cherry pie, made by Carol T.
Barb D quilt for her great-granddaughter.

Kat works in a shop that had this tapestry-like fabric. She made this unique quilt. It is huge and heavy but delightful.
Donna's quilt with her touch was wonderful.

Donna's wall hanging made from a kit from Mainely Sewing, Nobleboro
'America the Beautiful' by Donna. This is a 6-part quilt from McCalls. There are several others who are doing it in their own color palette. Four of us started to do it giving ourselves a year. After seeing it today others will be joining in. Quilting is contagious!!! Don't you just love it!!!
Suanne  - made for a teen age gal who chose her own fabrics. Fun quilt!!
Janet - she found these fabrics at a garage sale.

We had a lot of Show 'n Tell this week. I trust I have names etc. correct. It is difficult to remember all the details. Wonderful group of gals and we have a lot of fun. Until next time......
